With over 3000 châteaux (encompassing stately homes and castles), Belgium holds the highest number of châteaux per square kilometre in the world. In Wallonia alone there are an estimated 1,500 châteaux.

In our area, there are a number of castles that are definitely worth a visit:

Bourseigne-Vieille is surrounded by forests, offering endless possibilities for walks. You can find a map of local walks in the gîte.

♿ At the tourist centre in Gedinne, you can get a Becasine (portable wheelchair) and information about adapted walking routes for people with reduced mobility (by reservation).

Standing tall on the Croix-Scaille plateau, the Tour du Millénaire is a spectacular 60-m-tall vantage point in the shape of an hourglass that marks the highest point in the province and the fifth highest in Belgium (503 m). The Tour du Millénaire is an unmissable fixture in the area. You can climb to a height of 45 m and gaze across the villages and forests of the Belgian and French Ardennes.

Cross-country skiing

When enough snow has fallen, ski slopes criss-cross the forests. You can rent equipment at La Malcampée, on a hill near the village of Louette-Saint-Pierre.

You can rent electric mountain bikes at Arde-Bike Adventure. There is a mountain bike route map in the house.
